{Politics: Al Furat News} A Kurdish MP confirmed that the population census will affect all governorates financially.
Jamal Kocher, a representative of the Kurdistan Islamic Party, told Al Furat News Agency: “There is a clear commitment to the curfew in the Kurdistan Region, where checkpoints have been set up, noting that the population census will affect all governorates financially and according to population ratios.”
He added, "The census will diagnose a set of indicators that show the country's actual need and how to diagnose the structural defect that occurred from the last census until the new census and determine programs, budgets and mechanisms that correct the path."
Yesterday, Wednesday, the general population census process was launched in Iraq in all its governorates. It is the first of its kind since 1987, amidst strict security measures and the imposition of a comprehensive curfew, in an attempt to facilitate the work of the mobile teams that work on recording information from the residents.
At exactly 12 midnight local time on Tuesday, the security authorities imposed a curfew in all governorates of the country that will last for two days. Security checkpoints and all entrances and exits to cities were closed to prevent movement.
The census is also accompanied by the alert status (C) for Iraqi security and military units.
