The spokesman for the Ministry of Planning, Abdul Zahra Handawi, confirmed on Thursday that there was a high response from citizens to the population census process that began yesterday, Wednesday.
"Yesterday's census went according to plan, and I noted that there was broad cooperation and response from citizens, through a flood of calls asking when the census teams would arrive at their homes," Hindawi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency. "There is a plan for researchers to reach all homes within two days, as previously announced."
He added, "The question raised regarding durable goods is an open option for the citizen, but the answer to it is important in order to establish an import policy for these goods and measure the level of well-being, as well as measure the level of electrical loads and the amount of wheel fuel required to be provided."
On the other hand, Hindawi confirmed that "those included in the census abroad at the present time are those studying in foreign universities and those traveling for treatment purposes."
He explained that "the second phase of the census will include Iraqis residing abroad after the completion of the census process inside the country, where tablets will be sent to embassies and a plan will be developed to register Iraqis residing abroad." End / 25M
