Baghdad/Al-Masala: The leader of the Coordination Framework, Issam Shaker, confirmed on Thursday that the security agreement between Baghdad and Washington will be at stake if Iraq is bombed.
Shaker said in an interview, “The Zionist entity is practicing ‘bullying’ and a war of extermination against Arabs and Muslims in the Middle East, starting with Gaza and now Lebanon, with martyrs falling in Syria due to the bombing of cities.”
He added, "Baghdad has a specific security agreement that obligates the United States to secure Iraqi airspace, and any aggression targeting Baghdad by the Zionist entity will put that agreement to the test."
Shaker pointed out that, "The Zionist entity cannot launch an aggression against Iraq without an American green light, and therefore Baghdad will not remain silent and will have a response and a position at the same time, stressing that Washington is involved in the war of extermination that the entity is now waging in the Arab region."
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani responded on Tuesday to Israel’s submission of a letter to the UN Security Council to put in place immediate measures to address attacks by armed factions, saying that this represents “a pretext and excuse to attack Iraq.” While he affirmed his rejection of “these threats and entering into war,” he stressed that “the decision of war and peace is a decision in the hands of the Iraqi state.”
