    [size=45]Yesterday, the National Retirement Authority confirmed that it had raised the demands of the retired segment to increase their salaries to the “higher authorities.” While stressing that the year’s budget did not include an increase in salaries, it said that the increase could be activated next year.[/size]
    [size=45]Director of Public Retirement Relations and Media, Alaa Muhammad, said in a statement to (Al Mada) that the authority is following up on “demonstrations and demands of retirees to increase their salaries, and received their requests and addressed the higher authorities to convey their voice and work to activate the increase in accordance with legal legislation.”[/size]
    [size=45]He pointed out that “the increase in the salaries of retirees is only done through legal legislation from higher authorities,” noting that “the National Retirement Authority is an executive body, and laws are legislated by the House of Representatives.”[/size]
    [size=45]And he added, "The Parliamentary Legal Committee has resolved the issue with regard to the salaries of retirees, and stated that the increase can only take place through law and legislation."[/size]
    [size=45]He continued, "The financial budget for 2021, did not include any increase in the allocations of the retirement authority, and therefore it is not possible to increase the salaries of retirees, but it is possible to consider increasing their salaries next year."[/size]
    [size=45]Dozens of retirees demonstrated in front of the Retirement Authority building in Baghdad a few weeks ago to demand an increase in their salaries, and they said that it was no longer enough for them due to the increase in the prices of many goods and merchandise after the dollar exchange rate was raised against the dinar.[/size]
