    The company revealed details about the plan

    The American General Electric Company announced, on Sunday, a new plan for the electricity sector in Iraq.
    The company said in a statement issued on the sidelines of the Iraq Reconstruction Conference, June 27, that "the plan includes an integrated transformation in the energy sector, and combines its comprehensive strategies to enable Iraq to foresee a future supported by cleaner energy sources."

    The statement added, "The plan is based on a number of main pillars that support the Iraqi government's goals to develop the infrastructure of the energy sector in the country, enhance decarbonization efforts and diversify sources of power generation to end the electricity crisis."
    The plan was presented by the company at a "summit" held in Baghdad in the presence of high-ranking personalities, in cooperation with the office of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi and the Investment Authority.
    Abdul Rahman Khalidi, chief technology officer of GE Gas Power in the EMEA region, said, according to the statement, "We have consistently focused on supporting and developing the energy infrastructure in Iraq using comprehensive solutions, ranging from securing financing to advanced technologies. It is important today to stimulate efforts to shift towards cleaner energy systems that yield three main benefits for the country, from using diversified sources of energy to meet growing demand, fulfilling decarbonization commitments by exploiting more efficient gas and clean energy resources, to laying the foundations for a stable architecture that delivers safe energy the most reliable and cleanest of the future.”
    He added, "These benefits shape the ambitious strategy of the energy sector transformation plan in Iraq and embody the most comprehensive approaches to the energy sector and cover all solutions that Iraq can benefit from."
    The company's statement also confirmed, "The plan lays out a strategic set of specially designed solutions and technologies that support the endeavors to decarbonize Iraq's unique energy sector, ranging from world-record-holding highly efficient gas turbines and modernization solutions to fast and flexible air derivatives."
    He explained, "The General Electric team, which includes a selection of local and international experts, can transform decarbonization efforts into a tangible achievement in Iraq."
