    The Integrity Commission announced the official launch of the National Integrity and Anti-Corruption Strategy for the years (2021-2024), and its entry into force, after its approval by the Council of Ministers under Resolution No. (181 on 6/6/2021).

    The head of the commission, Alaa Jawad Al-Saadi, said, according to a statement received by "Al-Nour News", a copy of it, that "the strategy represents the fruit of persistent and continuous efforts that have been made; In order to reach this stage in which everyone who contributed is entitled to be proud of this national achievement, which puts Iraq in the ranks of countries that comply with the requirements of the United Nations Convention against Corruption in this particular field.”
    This came during his speech at the ceremony, which was attended by a number of deputies, government officials, representatives of judicial and regulatory bodies, the vice president of the commission and its general managers, as well as representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), international and community organizations and missions, and the media.
    Al-Saadi indicated, "The development of the methods of corruption and the corrupt and their transformation into operations with organized plans to commit crime and the deviation of laws and legislation, which requires those concerned in the fight against corruption in the world to be the process of addressing these methods according to a scientific approach that closely studies the reality and the serious gaps in the two people. The corrupt enter through it, and put in place effective and effective treatments that can eradicate or reduce the scourge of corruption.”
    The head of the Integrity Commission explained that “the UN Convention against Corruption in Article Twenty / Clause (4) of Chapter Six, urged the states parties to help each other, and to conduct assessments, studies and research on the types, causes, effects and costs of corruption in their countries; To develop, with the participation of the competent authorities and society, strategies and action plans to combat corruption.
    He added, "The commission has begun preparing a national strategy for integrity and anti-corruption for the years (2021-2024); Based on the contents of Paragraph (Eighth) of Article (3) of the Authority's Law in force; With the participation of other oversight bodies and in cooperation with various state institutions and the United Nations Development Program, seminars and workshops were held in which the commission listened to the opinions and views of civil society organizations, the media, and administrative leaders in various government sectors, and even the private sector, as well as specialists in setting and drawing up the strategy.     He pointed out that “the authority aims to assist, cooperate and actively participate in the implementation of the strategy, according to which public sector institutions will be evaluated in strengthening internal control and internal control, improving measures to prevent corruption, and ensuring the enhancement of integrity procedures in their performance, as well as determining the extent of these institutions’ commitment to observing the principles of in setting its policy and operational plans.
    He noted that “the efforts that resulted in the emergence of the formulation of a new national strategy with an executive vision, focused on diagnosing central issues and core solutions, identifying initiatives and areas of strategic intervention for efforts to raise integrity levels, as well as guiding and diagnosing most of these phenomena within the crystallization of these phenomena.” bodies concerned with combating corruption.”
    Al-Saadi said, "The launch of the strategy coincided with the start of the implementation of the government reform paper, which included paragraphs to address the problem of corruption and the failure of the economy and investment as a result of it, so that their launch would be an important endeavor aimed at serving the citizen, providing the best services to him and raising the standard of living, and access to the stage of major investments and the construction of strategic projects. That contributes to achieving economic development, providing prosperity and societal and political stability in Iraq, and ending the stage of rampant corruption, the reluctance of projects and the low level of services.”
    For his part, the Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (Vakhtank Svanidze) expressed in his speech his overwhelming happiness with this achievement, stressing that “Iraq deserves to have public institutions free of corruption, and this strategy is an important step in order to achieve this.
    And he expressed, “the organization’s readiness to provide the necessary support in implementing the contents of the strategy; In continuation to the support steps provided by the program in the preparation and formulation stages, he expressed his hope that the implementation of the contents of this strategy will witness the support required by the partners, and this strategy will not reach its desired goals without effective implementation of its contents and requirements by the cooperating parties and the targeted sectors.
    The ceremony witnessed the presentation of a documentary film that reviewed the stages of preparation and formulation of the strategy’s clauses, and the entities that cooperated with the authority during those phases, as well as addressing the most important clauses and contents of the strategy, and a review of the entities that will undertake the implementation and support tasks, as well as the sectors and target groups, highlighting methods for measuring the level of The response of state institutions to their specific duties in this strategy through the indicators set therein.
