Shafaq News/ The spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture, Hamid Al-Nayef, said on Friday that the Iraqi negotiator failed miserably to recover his water entitlement from neighboring countries.
Al-Nayef told Shafaq News Agency, "The Iraqi negotiator failed miserably to recover his water entitlement from neighboring countries, especially Turkey."
He added, "There is a final round that Iraq will enter into with neighboring countries regarding the water crisis, and if it fails, the federal government must use its commercial right by pressing 20 billion dollars on the Turkish trade balance to force Ankara to release Iraq's water allocations."
Al-Nayef stressed "the necessity of exploiting the papers pressing on the neighboring countries in order to protect 26 million acres of arable Iraqi land, which is threatened with an unknown fate and a dangerous end unless this file is resolved soon."
