    Cairo - Mubasher: Tamim Al-Dawy, Deputy Executive Director of the Export Council for Food Industries, said that the total exports of the sector increased during the period from January to August of this year to Iraq by about 1%, to record $84.2 million, compared to $83.7 million during the same period last year. .

    This came during a symposium organized by the Export Council for Food Industries in cooperation with the Commercial Representation Agency, under the title "Opportunities for developing food industry exports to Iraq."
    He added that the sector's exports to Iraq rose during the past year to record $125 million, compared to $97 million in 2019, at a rate of 29%, and Iraq is the eighth largest importing market for the Egyptian food industries, accounting for 3.6% of the total exports of $3.5 billion in the year the past, according to the Middle East News Agency. 
    Regarding the most important Egyptian food commodities to Iraq during the first 8 months of this year, Al-Dawy pointed out that about 10 commodities that account for 95% of the sector's total exports are exported by "aromatic mixtures", which account for 20% of the sector's exports by about $25 million, followed by exports "Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitution" acquired 15% with a value of 19 million dollars, and "greases and fats" came in third place with 14%, with a value of 17 million dollars.
    He added: "Grain-based preparations" exports to Iraq during 8 months amounted to 14 million dollars, accounting for 10% of the total exports, while "cheese" exports ranked fifth, accounting for 10% of the total exports, with a value of 12 million dollars, followed by "Miscellaneous food preparations" by 9%, with a value of 11 million dollars, followed by exports of "chocolate" in seventh place, accounting for 5% of the total exports, with a value of 7 million dollars, followed by exports of "vegetable preparations" by about 4%, with a value of 5 million dollars, then "Pickled and processed olives" exports by about 4%, with a value of $5 million, and "dairy and dairy products" exports rank tenth by 3%, with a value of $3 million."
    It is worth noting that the Egyptian food industry exports to Iraq witnessed a rise of 62.3% in 4 years to record $125 million in 2020 compared to $77 million in 2016.
