    Coinciding with the current visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to Egypt at the head of a high-level Iraqi government delegation, data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics showed a significant increase in Egyptian exports to Iraq since the beginning of this year.
    The agency's data showed that total Egyptian exports to Iraq reached $308 million and 553 thousand in the period from January to May, up from $274 million and 73 thousand in the same period last year 2023, an increase of $34 million and 480 thousand.
    In contrast, the agency's data said that Egypt's imports from Iraq also recorded a slight increase during the mentioned period, as the value of Egyptian imports amounted to about $4 million and 105 thousand in the first 5 months of this year, compared to $2 million and 357 thousand in the same period last year 2023, an increase of $1 million and 748 thousand.
    The value of trade movement between Egypt and Iraq was included in the list of trade exchange between Egypt and the countries of the Common Arab Market, to which the value of Egyptian exports rose to become one billion and 639 million dollars in the period from January to May of last year, compared to about one billion and 448 million dollars in the corresponding period last year 2023, an increase of 191 million and 778 thousand dollars.
    The delegation accompanying the Iraqi Prime Minister includes the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Trade, and a number of senior Iraqi officials.
