Adviser to the Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, revealed the preparation of a budget that he described as precautionary for the year 2022, indicating that the new budget may depend on borrowing.
Saleh said in an interview with the official Al-Sabah newspaper that the draft budget for next year is ready, and for the first time contains a plan for investment projects that is clear and built for a period of three years, revealing that the budget was built on the basis of an oil price of 50 dollars per barrel, despite the fact that the current oil prices exceeded 80 dollars per barrel. He pointed out that the possibility of borrowing is present in all budgets as a precautionary measure, ruling out the possibility of the effect of the "Omicron" mutation on the economy in general, indicating that the new mutation may reduce oil prices.
