{Local: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Health announced that there are no recommendations to prevent birthday celebrations due to the stability of the epidemiological situation.
The director of public health at the ministry, Riad Abdel Amir Al-Halfi, said in a press statement that "the omicron mutant multiplies in the bronchial cells of the patient several times more than the delta mutant, according to preliminary information from the World Health Organization."
He stressed, "there are currently no recommendations or decision to prevent celebrations of the New Year's Day celebrations, as this is related to the currently stable epidemiological situation, as well as the absence of infections with the new mutation so far."
He pointed out that "the ministry is still requiring passengers arriving through airports to take a PCR smear, and it must be 72 hours before travel."
And Al-Halfi stated that "knowledge of the type of mutator is done by collecting various samples from people and examining them in the central laboratories for classifying the virus, and the World Organization has chosen to confront any new strain of infection."
He pointed out, "The number of vaccinated with the three doses has crossed the threshold of eight million citizens, and we hope to vaccinate more than 100,000 daily to reach 10 million more vaccinated by the end of this year."
And he stated that "Iraq has received about 17 million doses out of a total of 36 million doses that have been contracted," noting that "vaccines alone do not help any country to get out of it, except for outbreaks and outbreaks."
Al-Halfi called on "unvaccinated people aged 12 years and over to go to the ports to take the vaccine to protect them from infection and reduce the risk of the spread of Corona strains."
