, Minister of Electricity Adel Karim confirmed today, Tuesday, that the connection with Saudi Arabia will be completed within two years.
Karim said during the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the electrical connection with the Saudi Minister of Energy, that "the Iraqi market is open to Saudi companies," noting that "this project is the first step for cooperation, and this will be the first stage for a group of projects."
It is noteworthy that the Minister of Electricity, Adel Karim, signed, on Tuesday, with the Saudi Minister of Energy, Abdulaziz bin Salman, a memorandum of understanding in the field of electrical interconnection.
The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Hamid Al-Ghazi, said in a speech during the signing of the memorandum of understanding, that "the electrical connection with Saudi Arabia has economic returns," adding that "one of the government's priorities is to solve the electricity crisis."
Al-Ghazi pointed out that "the electrical connection with Saudi Arabia contributes to providing Iraq's needs."
For his part, the Saudi Minister of Energy said, "We aim to achieve optimal investments in the electrical connection with Iraq," continuing that "the electrical connection with Iraq promotes the establishment of a regional market for electricity trade." Ended 29/N33
