Controversy dominates the meeting of the coordination framework and three guarantees separating the rapprochement with Al-Sadr
Shafaq News/ A source familiar with the scenes of the Coordination Framework Forces meeting, which has been held for hours, revealed that the controversy rages between the gathered Shiite forces due to different visions and the lack of options available, in light of an existing dispute with the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, less than a week before the session Decisive for the Iraqi parliament to choose a president, and then assign a candidate to form the new government.
The source told Shafaq News Agency, "Tension and controversy dominate the course of the meeting - until the moment of preparing the news - due to the different visions presented. Some of them see that going to the opposition prevents them from their electoral privileges, while others believe that joining some of the framework forces in the Sadrist bloc will preserve the Shiites' rights." political decision-making and managing the affairs of the country, as well as striking foreign plans,” as stated on the meeting table.
He added that "the framework forces discussed at length the initiative of the leader of the Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, but at the same time they are looking for guarantees from al-Sadr, including not violating the Popular Mobilization Institution under any justification or title, in addition to not compromising certain symbols and leaders under the title of fighting corruption, as well as about achieving political balance in all parts of the state.
He added, "The possibility of some of the framework forces withdrawing and joining Al-Sadr is very likely, if the internal dispute (between the framework forces themselves) continues due to the lack of available options and the lack of time."
The Iraqi parliament is scheduled to hold a session, the second of its legislative life, next Monday, in which it chooses the president.
Most of the odds indicate that Hoshyar Zebari, the candidate of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, will be president of the republic, and that the latter will assign the Sadrist bloc's candidate to form the Iraqi government.
In terms of numbers, the tripartite alliance (Al-Sadr, the Democratic Party and the Sovereignty) constitutes about two-thirds of the parliament’s members, as the Sadrist bloc has 73 seats, the Democratic Party has 31, and the Sovereignty Alliance has 67 seats, bringing a total of 171 seats out of a total of 329 deputies.
