The parliamentary Labor and Civil Society Organizations Committee is moving towards organizing union work by holding several training workshops, in cooperation with the International Labor Organization and other organizations, the latest of which was the training workshop in Geneva.
The committee’s vice president, Hussein Arab, told Al-Sabah that “there are a number of laws being studied by the Labor and Civil Society Organizations Committee, including the Trade Union Organization Law and the Federation of Trade Unions, and the Athletes, Programmers and Technicians Union Law. All of these laws are on the committee’s agenda, and part of them has been submitted for the first reading, while another part will be voted on in the next session.”
Arab added that “the committee is moving towards organizing union work in a clear manner, and there will be no chaos in the work of some unions and syndicates, and the committee will discuss amending them in a manner consistent with their non-violation of the constitution and the applicable law.”
Arab continued, "There are training workshops held in Geneva regarding the organization of union work, and there are many workshops in which we will cooperate with the International Labor Organization and other organizations. We have been partners in the International Labor Organization since 1937 and we have international treaties with them."
