The head of the Victory Alliance, Haider al-Abadi, considered, on Wednesday, the end of the Iraqi compensation file to Kuwait, as it exceeded the biggest Baathist foolishness.

Al-Abadi stated in a blog post, seen by "Nass" (February 23, 2022), that "by ending the file of Iraqi compensation to Kuwait (52.4 billion dollars), we have overcome the biggest foolishness of the Baath that destroyed Iraq and its people for centuries."
Al-Abadi asked: "When will the rulers realize that ruling is a responsibility and obligation, and not frivolity and privilege!!?"
He concluded his writing by stating that "the state is the home of a nation, not the estate of a ruler."

The head of the Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, confirmed, on Wednesday, that Iraq's exit from Chapter VII is "the fruit of great national efforts," calling for its investment.

Al-Hakim said in his blog post, followed by "Nass" (February 23, 2022): "The UN Security Council's decision to remove Iraq from the burden of the previous chapter was the result of great national efforts that were made to achieve our sovereignty and independence. Finally, he urged us and the patriots with us to continue the journey until the desired goal is achieved.

He added, "While we congratulate our people for this great achievement, we call for investing this occasion to unify the word, transcend special interests, and give priority to the interests of the country and the nation, leading to the formation of a national service government that does justice to the people and fulfills their hopes."

And Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein announced that Iraq had exited the "Chapter VII" procedures, by completing and closing the Kuwaiti compensation file.

Minister Hussein said in a speech before the Security Council in its session devoted to the file of compensation that "Iraq is turning today an important page of its history that lasted for more than thirty years."

He added, "Today begins a new page in Iraq's diplomatic, political and economic history, strengthening its regional and international role."

Hussein stressed that "there are clear signs that Iraq has fulfilled its full international obligations under the relevant Security Council resolutions."

The Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that "Iraq paid the last payment in accordance with its financial obligations and paid the full amount of compensation due to it, which is (52.4) billion US dollars."

Hussein continued, "Iraq is no longer required to pay any additional sums of money in the future or deal with Chapter VII procedures."

Minister Hussein indicated that "our government confirms that working with the United Nations Compensation Commission and your esteemed council was a successful model for multilateral action and enhances confidence in international mechanisms and procedures in settling crises."

He stressed that "Iraq continued to fulfill these obligations in full in accordance with the timetables and percentages approved by the Compensation Committee, despite the difficult circumstances it went through by taking its role at the forefront of the world's countries to confront the terrorist gangs of ISIS and recover cities from the organization's control."

He added, "The Government of Iraq considers the full fulfillment of its international obligations towards the international community and the sisterly State of Kuwait as a major development that would strengthen Iraq's relations with its regional and international surroundings."

He also said that "Iraq has sought to complete this unique model of work, international effort and joint cooperation under the frameworks and mechanisms of the United Nations."

The Iraqi minister concluded, "Through Iraq's full fulfillment of its international obligations, he highlighted an international legal and moral obligation on the international community and the United Nations, which is to remove Iraq from all Chapter VII procedures, preserve Iraq's rights and funds and its international legal entitlements, and protect it from any future claims within the framework of the international effort led by the United Nations." ".
