    set the Kurdistan Democratic Party as a condition for accepting a Kurdish consensual candidate for the presidency in agreement with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, while stressing that the Kurdish competition for the position does not represent a case of disagreement between the main forces.
    A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Abdul Salam Barwari, told Al-Iraqiya News, today, Thursday, and the Iraqi News Agency (INA) followed it up: "There is a competition for the position of President of the Republic between the Democratic Parties and the Kurdistan Union, as is the case with the competition for seats in the Kurdistan Parliament and the Iraqi Parliament within the region."
    He added, "The issue of not agreeing on a Kurdish consensual candidate for the position does not represent a dispute. There is competition and whoever can bring the highest votes from the existing candidates is the one who wins the position, and there is no harm in competing Kurdish candidates."
    He continued, "In spite of that, we are ready to sit with the National Union to agree on a consensual candidate, but on condition that a person other than Barham Salih is nominated, and the Union insists on his candidate and considers that consensus is our vote as well on his candidate."
    He stressed that "the Democratic Party has only one candidate, Reber Ahmed, because he believes that he is qualified for this position, with his leadership qualities, efficiency, and the ability to bear responsibility. In 2018, the two parties competed for the position, and we congratulated Barham Salih on that day for winning, after he gained the confidence of Parliament."
    Regarding the possibility of passing the candidate, Berwari said, "The Democrat is allied with the Sadrist bloc and the Alliance of Sovereignty within the framework of a tripartite alliance, and they are collectively able to pass it with the support of other forces that we have contacts with, and the constitution requires that the candidate obtain two-thirds of the votes of those present at the voting session."
    He stressed, "The democratic process must proceed by holding a session to elect the president of the republic and nominate the prime minister-designate, and to move away from the approach of obstruction and reliance on the national interest by all parliamentary blocs."
    Today, the House of Representatives announced the agenda of its session for next Saturday, which included voting to open the nomination for the position of President of the Republic for the second time.
