Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi directed, today, Sunday, to secure the strategic storage of basic foodstuffs.
The Media Office of the Prime Minister stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Al-Kazemi chaired an emergency meeting devoted to discussing food security in the country and the rise in commodity and food prices in the markets, in the presence of the Ministers of Finance, Foreign Affairs, Planning, Trade, Agriculture, and Resources." Water, industry, the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, and a number of advisors.
The statement added, "The meeting discussed ensuring food security and the readiness of ministries to achieve this in light of the Russian-Ukrainian war crisis, and Mr. Al-Kazemi directed the importance of securing strategic stocks of basic foodstuffs, and overcoming the obstacles they face."
Al-Kazemi directed the ministries of finance, trade and agriculture to take the necessary measures on the main points discussed in the meeting , and to put the issue of food security and securing strategic storage on the agenda of the Ministerial Economic Council and the Council of Ministers for this week, and to take the necessary decisions in this regard. Iraq, and directives to secure the water quotas required for the cultivation of agricultural crops, especially the basic ones.
