[size=45]In turn, the economic affairs specialist, Basem Jamil, told Al-Mada that "the government, by a decision of the Ministry of Agriculture, reduced the area of ​​agriculture by 50% compared to last year, which made the food crisis in Iraq more effective than other countries."[/size]
[size=45]He added that "advisers failed to manage the crisis and were unable to extrapolate the economic situation and the global crisis that was looming on the horizon, especially with the war of Russia and Ukraine."[/size]
[size=45]Antoine pointed out that "trade's work is focused on securing food for 40 million citizens away from the ration card, but it was watching amid an attack by economic mafias that controlled the Iraqi market and raised prices according to their mood."[/size]
[size=45]The local markets had recorded an unprecedented rise in the prices of some foodstuffs, as they rose to more than double the price they were two or three days ago, as the price of a liter of oil rose to about 5,000 dinars after it was sold at half that price. Some government agencies fear that the price increase and the popular discontent associated with it will trigger a new wave of popular protests.[/size]
[size=45]The pace of price hikes that has continued for a few days, prompted the government and its head, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, to convene an emergency meeting, to take practical steps to confront the crisis.[/size]
[size=45]Al-Kazemi directed, in a statement issued by his media office, received by Al-Mada, the importance of "securing the strategic storage of basic foodstuffs, and overcoming the obstacles facing it."[/size]
