Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein stressed today, Saturday, the importance of resorting to political solutions to end the war in Ukraine, respecting the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and the sovereignty of states on their lands.
A statement by the ministry, received by Mawazine News, stated that "Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein received British Ambassador Mark Bryson Richardson, accredited to Iraq, and during the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to enhance prospects for cooperation in all fields to serve mutual interests, along with Developing economic and commercial cooperation and joint action in facing challenges.
He added that "the developments in the region of common interest were also discussed, and the two sides discussed the developments of the Ukrainian-Russian war."
The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that "Iraq supports intensifying diplomatic efforts to reach a political solution, end military operations, work for calm and restraint, respect the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and the sovereignty of states on their territories."
They discussed the latest political developments in Iraq and the efforts to form the new Iraqi government, stressing that "the new government must gain the confidence of the House of Representatives in accordance with democratic principles and constitutional frameworks." 29/992
