Today, Monday, the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakim Al-Zamili, warned against neglecting the water file, while referring to the delivery of a letter to the Turkish ambassador regarding this sensitive file.
The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakim Al-Zamili, said in a speech during hosting the Minister of Water Resources, which was attended by the Iraqi News Agency correspondent, that "a meeting was held with the Minister of Water Resources and the undersecretaries, regarding the water file, as it is a sensitive issue that affects the lives and future of citizens, as well as the groundwater file," stressing On "the need for Parliament to have an important position, especially since most of those present are ignorant of the situation and dedicate its mission to the Ministry of Water Resources."
He added, "The ministry cannot confront these countries alone, especially since it needs relationships and an active governmental role through putting pressure on governments and using power," noting that "the water file in Turkey is managed by President Erdogan, in addition to the Supreme Leader's supervision over the water file in Iran." .
He explained, "The water file in Iraq is neglected, and the situation in the coming years may reach a lack of water," noting that "the situation is anxious and sensitive, and the water file is considered one of the most dangerous files."
He added, "Repeated meetings were held with officials, including the Turkish ambassador, and he delivered a clear message that he delivered to his government, in addition to the ambassador's meeting with the Minister of Water Resources to clarify his country's position."
He continued, "Our meeting today with the Minister of Water Resources to discuss the ministry's plan and the Cabinet's support mechanism for this file in the budget, as well as putting pressure on countries because this file threatens the lives of citizens."
