Earth News/ Today, Monday, Representative Muhammad Hassan Al-Shammari called on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to move diplomatically towards Kuwait regarding the repeated attacks on Iraqi fishermen.
Al-Shammari said in a statement received by Earth News, "A few days ago, the Kuwaiti authorities took incorrect measures towards a group of Iraqi fishermen near the port of Khor Abdullah, without knowing the motives and reasons."
Al-Shammari called on the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs to "move diplomatically and submit a letter of protest to the Kuwaiti ambassador to Baghdad to find out the reasons for the repeated attacks on Iraqi fishermen on an ongoing basis and in violation of the law and social norms prevailing in the Arab world."
It is noteworthy that the Kuwaiti Coast Guard forces had detained, last Friday, 25 Iraqi fishermen and their boats in Iraqi territorial waters.
