    An official in the Kurdistan Democratic Party said that the head of the party, Massoud Barzani, decided not to reopen the party's headquarters in the capital, Baghdad, after it was attacked and burned less than a month ago.

    The party’s legal representative in Baghdad, Ismail Sayamir, said in a press statement, “No date has been set for the resumption of the activity of the fifth branch of the party, and they will continue to stop their activities, and no decision has been issued to open a new building to replace the one that was demolished. He says that the three who were accused of the attack At the headquarters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Baghdad, they were released."

    He added, "The main suspects of the attack on the party's branch headquarters in Baghdad on the 28th of last month have not yet been arrested, and the three who were arrested on charges of launching the attack have been released."

    Sayamir indicated that, "As the legal representative of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, after the attack, he registered a complaint against the security forces that were charged with protecting the headquarters building and the perpetrators of the attack, but despite the passage of about a month since the incident, none of the people who played a major role were arrested. In the attack and in previous attacks."

    On the fate of the fifth branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the activities of the branch, Sayamir said: "The branch headquarters will not be reopened based on a decision by President Masoud Barzani, in protest against the repeated attacks on the party branch headquarters in Baghdad, and the decision is still valid and we have no activity and we are continuing in suspend our activities.

    According to this official in the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Baghdad, who is an active member of the fifth branch, the branch was subjected to three attacks in 2021 and 2022 and five acts of sabotage since 2014.

    On last March 28, the headquarters of the fifth branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in the capital, Baghdad, was attacked and part of it was burned. In a protest reaction, the party proceeded the next day to demolish the building of the headquarters of its fifth branch in Baghdad.
