The Ministry of Electricity has achieved advanced stages in electrical interconnection projects with neighboring countries within the framework of its plans to diversify the supply outlets and increase the energy provided to citizens, with the advent of summer.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Ahmed Musa Al-Abadi, said: “The electrical connection with Turkey is about to be completed, as it requires the construction of lines (Carrot-Mosul, Al-Kasik 400 station and all its branches from the transmission lines, and the connection will be technically ready to enter service soon.”)
He explained that "500 megawatts will be transferred to the northern governorates," noting that "the line will be activated after obtaining the approvals of the European Union due to the Turkish transport network's connection to it, as coordination has been made with the Turkish government to complete this aspect soon."
Al-Abadi pointed out that “a large part of the Gulf connection has been completed through the Faw Abu Flous line 1 and 2 and the Faw station, as the tariff price is currently being agreed upon, and the processing will be at 500 megawatts in its first phase to Basra Governorate.”
