Today, Saturday, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers confirmed that the border crossings automation program has eliminated corruption and increased state revenues.
A spokesman for the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, Haider Majid, said, "The recent joint visit of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and the Border Ports Authority, to the ports of Safwan, Shalamjah, Umm Qasr, North, South, Central, and Abu Flus, came to follow up on the implementation of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi's directives, and Cabinet decisions related to automating outlets, to facilitate the entry of food and consumer goods, and the evacuation of containers containing hazardous materials.
And regarding the directives of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers regarding the port automation program, Majeed confirmed that "the ports visited have completed the procedures for electronic customs and tax receipts, under the direct supervision of the head of the Border Ports Authority, Major General Omar Adnan Al-Waeli, and with the self-efforts of the technical and technical authority's staff."
He added, "The outlets have been linked to all commercial attaches, in which certificates of origin and import licenses are received electronically from the exporting countries, which ended the process of forgery, manipulation and changing the gender of imported materials, as well as calculating tax and customs fees electronically according to the system, and this procedure prevented cases of manipulation of the amounts collected. to the state and eliminate cases of corruption, and increase state revenues.
