The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee announced, on Monday, the completion of the preparation of the compulsory service law, "the flag service" and its submission to the parliament's presidency, confirming its readiness for the first reading.
Committee member Karim Abu Souda said in a press interview, "The committee sent to the Presidency of the House of Representatives the Compulsory Service Law for inclusion on the Council's agenda and for its first and second reading."
He added that "the law of compulsory conscription is one of the very important laws in Iraq, and there is consensus on the need to legislate it due to its positive aspects in different directions."
He pointed out that "there is almost unanimity among the political blocs on the importance of passing the law during the current legislative term," noting that "all the requirements for its approval are ready in Parliament."
