The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Asadi, affirmed, on Wednesday, that the new government has prioritized supporting vulnerable groups and building and empowering youth capabilities.
The ministry said in a statement, "Al-Asadi discussed with the director of the Middle East office at the Canadian embassy ways to strengthen bilateral relations, develop them and activate joint cooperation programs, in line with the Iraqi government's plans and directions."
Al-Asadi said, according to the statement, that "the world is witnessing great and rapid changes, and their impact is clear on the Middle East region. Iraq must be within the system of developed countries," noting that "the Ministry of Labor aspires to more cooperation with the Canadian government through the establishment of joint programs, Because it has a long and deep experience in development plans, social protection, and poverty alleviation.
He explained that "the new government is a government of national service, and works with continuous effort to overcome obstacles and challenges. It has placed in its priorities support for vulnerable groups," pointing out that "the Ministry of Labor provides services to wide segments of society, and has many interests, most notably alleviating poverty and employing the unemployed." This is done by targeting vulnerable segments of the poor, implementing programs for people with disabilities and special needs, building and empowering youth capabilities, and enabling them to obtain job opportunities.
And Al-Asadi stated, "The ministry aspires to real cooperation with Canada in implementing effective programs to develop young people who are able to work, and empower them through holding training courses to qualify them." He directed the formation of a working group from the various departments of the ministry to communicate with the Canadian embassy regarding support mechanisms, and follow up on the implementation of joint cooperation plans. and its programmes.
