    Today, Wednesday, the local government in Basra discussed with the Electricity Interconnection Authority of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries a project to benefit from energy production in the Gulf countries and share loads with Iraq.
    The office of the First Deputy Governor of Basra said in a statement that, “The First Deputy met at the headquarters of the local government, the head of the Communications, Protection and Control Department in the Electric Interconnection Authority of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Alaa Hamz Rahma, and discussed with him the energy exchange project, in which work began and the maximum benefit from the production Energy in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to share loads with Iraq.[/size]
    [size=45]He added, "The meeting dealt with the issue of expanding the energy system, and linking with neighboring countries," noting that "Iraq will be the first Arab country that will become a major center for electric energy in the future."[/size]
    [size=45]And the statement continued, "The launch of the Gulf-Iraqi linkage project will be inaugurated within a period of less than 24 months, and the head of communications in the Electricity Interconnection Authority of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries made a field visit to the Al-Faw conversion station to follow up on this issue, which is the point connecting air lines with Iraq."[/size]
    [size=45]And the deputy governor confirmed that “the meeting with the head of the Communications Authority for the Electricity Interconnection of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries also discussed how to exploit (fiber optics) or optical fibers to be invested in the communications companies’ systems, which will be linked with the power transmission towers.”[/size]
    [size=45]He pointed out that "the Gulf-Iraqi linkage project will be a good start to link Iraq with the Gulf Cooperation Council system with electricity."[/size]
