The Minister of Justice, Dr. Khaled Shawani, affirmed that the Ministry is working on a policy of protecting the rights of female juvenile depositors in rehabilitation schools affiliated with the Juvenile Reform Department, in order to rehabilitate them according to reform programs and return them positively to society again.
He added, during his attendance at the annual exhibition of the skills of female depositors at the Rehabilitation School for Female Juveniles in Baghdad, today, Wednesday: "We diagnosed the defect in the work of the correctional departments, and we started the necessary measures to fix this file with the support of the Prime Minister, and yet there are bright aspects that must be shown to the public opinion."
Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani added, "Part of the bright aspects is the insistence of many inmates, especially females, to complete their studies and learn different professions, and their determination to work in order to build their future with their own hands, as they are a trust with our necks and we will protect them."
The Minister of Justice indicated that "the Ministry of Justice provided possible facilities to open new horizons for female depositors who were forced by circumstances to enter prison, including coordination to complete their studies and teach them the skills that qualify them to work after the expiry of their sentence."
The celebration, which was attended by Senior Undersecretary Ziyad Khalifa Al-Tamimi and Director General of the Juvenile Reform Department, Kamel Amin, witnessed many activities that varied between reciting poems, presenting theatrical scenes, and an exhibition of paintings.
The Minister of Justice, Khal Shawani, visited the prison halls to see the conditions of the deposited women and the suitability of the halls for human rights standards.
