The Director General of the General Authority for the Operation of Irrigation and Sewerage Projects at the Ministry of Water Resources, Ahmed Kazem Abdullah, said in a statement received by (Al-Mada), that "water storage in dams and reservoirs is still low and critical."
Abdullah stressed, "The ministry is counting on the rain waves that are expected to fall during the next few remaining months, to enhance storage."
And he indicated, "The snowfall in northern Iraq has not yet exceeded 25 percent, compared to what it fell for the same period last year."
He pointed out, “There are indications of rain and a flood in northern Iraq on the 28th of this month, specifically in northern Nineveh, Salah al-Din and Kirkuk, which will be of great importance in increasing the water reserves of the Mosul and Haditha dams, to meet the water needs for the next summer season.”
At the same time, he talked about "taking advantage of the rainfall in the central and southern regions, in reviving the marshes, and securing water rations for the wheat and barley crops."
And Abdullah went on, that "the ministry has drawn up plans to secure the third irrigation of the wheat crop after the rains during the next month, and in the event that it does not rain, the water storage of the dams will be used."
In addition, the Meteorology Authority stated, in a statement received by (Al-Mada), that “the country’s weather today, Tuesday, will be clear in the central and northern regions with some clouds, while the weather in the southern region will be partly cloudy with an opportunity for rain showers that are thunderstorms at times. The temperature will be similar to the previous day in the central and southern sections, while it will decrease slightly from the previous day in the northern part of the country.
And she added, "Wednesday's weather in the central and northern regions will be clear with some clouds, while the weather in the southern region will be partially cloudy, turning into awakening, and the temperatures will be similar to the previous day throughout the country."
And the authority stated, “The weather on Thursday will be clear with some clouds, as for temperatures, which will be similar to the previous day in the central and northern sections, and decrease slightly from the previous day in the southern part of the country.”
