Trade Minister Atheer Al-Ghurairy announced today, Saturday, the launch of convoys loaded with foodstuffs to the marketing outlets.
Al-Ghurairy said in a press conference at the stores of the General Company for Foodstuff Trade in Baghdad, that "a large number of trucks and convoys loaded with materials for table eggs, milk, chicken and flour went to their marketing outlets in Baghdad and the provinces for sale at lower prices than the local market," pointing out that "the ministry will provide in The next few days, meat, fish and other items are at reduced prices.”
He added, "The coming days will witness many campaigns to distribute various foodstuffs, and there will be outlets in Baghdad and the provinces," noting that "the aim of running these trucks is to confront speculators and meet the needs of the citizen."
He stated, "These campaigns are a completion of the prime minister's indication that the government represented by the Ministry of Commerce is able to provide any material and lower its price, and a number of subsidized materials were reduced ten days ago in line with the prime minister's directives."
Al-Ghariri added, "These measures are complementary to the procedures of the Central Bank to maintain the exchange rate," stressing that "within two days there will be a larger campaign to supply the citizen with foodstuffs."
