Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Commerce announced its participation in the launch stages of the Arab Trade Portal and the Arab Trade Policies Simulation Interface.
And the ministry's media stated in a statement received by (Baghdad Today), that "the Director General of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations, Riyad Fakher Al-Hashemi, at the Ministry of Commerce, headed the delegation of the Republic of Iraq participating in the meetings of the regional committee on (Trade Simulation Tool at the level of the Arab economy / ATSI) in the Republic of Tunisia, which It was established by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
The Director General stressed, according to the statement, that "the aim of holding these regional committee meetings is to develop and develop the national teams to use the Arab Trade Policy Simulation Interface (ATSI), and to analyze the results of its evaluation."
He pointed out that "during those meetings, the committee discussed several topics, the most important of which was presenting concrete scenarios at the unilateral, bilateral, regional and multilateral levels, and evaluating different scenarios for changing national customs tariffs, as well as evaluating the repercussions of trade changes in the rest of the world and their effects on the economies of Arab countries, and presenting a package of The economic and sectoral results of each simulation, in addition to an assessment of the effects of the proposed policies on the levels of greenhouse gas emissions and foreign investment flows for the years 2023-2030.
