Today, Monday, the Ministry of Water Resources announced that the current situation of the marshes is the best, noting that the levels are gradually rising, while confirming the development of a plan to expand and deepen the marshes’ nutrients.

The Director General of the Marshes and Wetlands Restoration Center at the Ministry, Hussein Ali Al-Kinani, said in a press statement that "the marshes have been greatly affected during the past three years as a result of the lack of revenues from the upstream countries and climate changes," noting that "the ministry has prepared a plan for the start of the rainy season to exploit the amounts of rain in Streams and rivers to release them into the marshes and benefit from the irrigation of agricultural areas.

He added, "The plan included releasing quantities of water to the marshes that feed from the Tigris and Euphrates rivers," noting, "There is a gradual increase in the levels of the marshes."

He stressed that "the situation in the marshes is currently better than last year as a result of the exploitation of rainwater," pointing out that "the ministry has drawn up a plan to expand and deepen the marshes' nutrients and the waterways entering the marshes with the aim of settling the population."
