    Shafaq News/ The American World Population Review website, which deals with the population census, revealed that the population of Iraq exceeded 45 million people during 2023, indicating that the population growth rate is decreasing annually.



    The site said in a report seen by Shafaq News Agency; "The population of Iraq during the month of February of the current year 2023 reached 45 million and 262 thousand and 225 people, with a growth rate of 2.31%," noting that "the population of Iraq at the end of 2022 amounted to 44 million and 496 thousand and 122 people."
    According to these statistics, the report of the American website contradicts the statistics of the Iraqi Ministry of Planning, which estimated the country's population at the end of 2022 at 42,248,883 people.
    The American website report added that "the population growth rate in Iraq is gradually decreasing, as it currently stands at 2.31%, after it was 2.35% in 2022, 2.39% in 2020, and 3.85% in 2015," noting that "in light of the current growth rate, the population of Iraq It will reach more than 52 million people in 2030.
    He explained that "the number of births per day is an average of 3329 births and the number of deaths is 529 cases per day," noting that "there are 24 million and 894 thousand and 724 people over the age of 18 in Iraq, and the average life expectancy is 74.9 years."
    It is noteworthy that the last census conducted in Iraq was in 1997, which showed that the population of Iraq amounted to about 19 million people in all regions of Iraq except for the governorates of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, which officials estimated at the time the number of people in the region at about three million citizens
