Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul-Ghani announced obtaining the approval of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani to increase the amounts of social benefits for areas close to the oil fields to reach ten million dollars instead of five million for each field.
Abdul-Ghani told (Baghdad Today) that "the oil fields had sums of social benefits amounting to five million dollars, but we see that these sums are not sufficient to build model schools, bridges, or advanced medical centers," noting that "that is why we submitted a request to the president of Ministers and we obtained his approval, after which the issue was presented to the Council of Ministers and it was voted on.”
And Abdul-Ghani indicated that he "directed the need to implement important projects that have a reflection on the health of the citizen or related to the development of the reality of education for the purpose of disbursing these sums to serve all citizens, especially those who live near the oil fields."
