The Parliamentary Finance Committee confirmed today, Thursday, the need to review the course of the budget and its investment aspects, while the Minister of Planning, Muhammad Tamim, indicated that there is no agreement for new loans.
The Media Department of the House of Representatives said in a statement, "The Finance Committee held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning Muhammad Tamim and the advanced staff, to follow up the discussion of the federal general budget law for the fiscal years 2023-2024-2025, and to review the expenditure tables and exchange doors."
At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman of the Finance Committee welcomed the Minister of Planning, Muhammad Tamim, pointing to "the need to review the course of the budget and its investment aspects, for the sake of sustainable development, and the preservation of the country's public money."
He pointed to "the committee's keenness to follow up all the paragraphs and provisions of the law to come up with a budget that meets all requirements according to a clear vision and programs," stressing "the need to search for productive projects that enhance the Iraqi economy, provide job opportunities and development projects that achieve the sustainability of the private sector, and provide the country with resources." For his part , the Minister of Planning
stressed "
the importance of the accuracy of the provisions of the budget law to preserve public money," adding that "the foundations and criteria on which the government was launched were focused on the implementation of government programmes.”
He reviewed “the government's point of view in preparing an investment budget, in terms of pressure on expenditures in order to reduce inflation by the size of employment and spending,” pointing to “the absence of an agreement for new loans.”
And he indicated that "the amounts allocated in the budget and the expenditure sections work to cover the Fund for the Development of the Poorest Regions, the projects of the Fund for the Reconstruction of the Sinjar Regions and the Nineveh Plain, infrastructure projects, ongoing projects and the development of the regions."
The committee members' remarks included the importance of supporting infrastructure projects, supporting the agricultural sector and service projects, the industrial and production sector, energy and installed stations, development funds, discussing the budget of some ministries and their involvement with the private sector, specific plans to enhance resources, and special programs for the advancement of stricken and affected areas and addressing poverty cases.
