    The Finance Committee, chaired by Representative Atwan Al-Atwani and in the presence of its members, continued its meeting devoted to completing the reading of the provisions of the Federal General Budget Law for the fiscal years 2023-2024-2025, and putting forward its observations. Presidency of the House of Representatives for a vote.

    The Media Department of the House of Representatives said in a statement, which “NAS” received a copy of, (May 2, 2023), that “the committee continued reading paragraphs and materials related to the health sectors, building health centers, education, social protection, and spending for areas affected by oil production based on percentage allocations.” The petro-dollar, environmental protection projects and the import of electric energy, in addition to allocating 30% to pay the late dues to the governorates according to maturity in case the revenues improve, and to listen to the proposals of the members regarding them.  
      
    In addition to reading the items that include not including investment projects in the investment budget except after the approval of the Ministry of Planning in order to complete all ongoing projects, and oblige the governors to pay dues for completed projects; To achieve justice among all governorates, as well as allocate funds to provide services and electricity to neighborhoods adjacent to the basic design.  
      
    The committee reviewed the total deficit contained in the budget and the listed tables and how to cover it from the surplus achieved as a result of the increase in the selling prices of crude oil and the source, or through internal and external borrowing, in addition to discussing the inclusion of investment projects funded by grants similar to those funded by loans, and opening the door to investment in partnership with the sector While detailed discussions were held in order to take appropriate measures, which are concerned with reducing expenditures, increasing revenues generated for the state, and filling the actual budget deficit, according to the statement.
