The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities announced the redoubling of its efforts to complete road and bridge projects within the first package, which was launched with five projects in Baghdad so far, based on its strategic importance.
Hussein Jassim Kazem, Director General of the Roads and Bridges Department in the Ministry, told Al-Sabah that his department has taken several measures to speed up the completion of road and bridge projects in the capital to remove traffic jams, following the directive issued by the Council of Ministers to conduct contracts for the aforementioned projects due to their strategic importance in decongesting. He stated that the procedures include speeding up the completion of road projects amounting to 70 percent, including the opening of the (Baghdad-Dora) road at the beginning of this year, as well as following up the implementation of the fourth ring road for the city of Baghdad and completing it as soon as possible, pointing out that the department instructed to double the efforts and capabilities available in most road projects. And bridges that have recently resumed work and reached their final stages, bypassing administrative routine.
Kazem indicated that the ministry had recently launched five projects within the first package of the 19 traffic jam relief projects, distributed by two projects in Karkh, including the construction of two bridges at the intersection of Aden and Sana'a squares, and the construction of an intersection (Dora - Yusufiya) on the (Baghdad - Hilla) road.
He added that the three Rusafa projects include the implementation of three bridges, the first linking Palestine Street and Al-Dakhil Street east of Baghdad, and the second linking Jamila area and the extension of Al-Jihad Street and Bab Al-Moazem via the Army Canal, while the third bridge connects the intersection of Al-Quds and Street 77.
