The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities received offers from 13 Egyptian companies to implement various projects in the roads and bridges sector in the country.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Nabil Al-Saffar, said, “Minister of Reconstruction, Benkin Rikani, met with a high-level Egyptian delegation that included the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Transport and Industry, and representatives of 13 of the largest Egyptian companies specialized in the fields of roads and bridges,” according to the official newspaper “Al-Sabah.”
He added that "the delegation's visit aims to follow up on the traffic congestion relief projects implemented by these companies, to know their completion rates, and to address any delays or obstacles facing implementation," noting that "there is a memorandum of understanding concluded by his ministry with the Egyptian side to participate in implementing traffic congestion relief projects."
Al-Saffar continued, “The projects include the second Al-Sarrafiya Bridge with the Buratha and Al-Sarrafiya Bridges, in addition to the project to build bridges and a tunnel at the Rashid Camp intersection,” noting that “these companies submitted their requests to implement projects in the field of roads and bridges in Baghdad and the governorates and to participate in the urban campaign implemented by the ministry, especially since the Arab Republic of Egypt has a pioneering experience in the field of building modern bridges and roads.”
He stressed that “Egyptian companies have expressed their readiness to implement projects in other fields, such as establishing modern residential cities, such as the Ali Al-Wardi residential city in Nahrawan, which was transferred to a specialized Egyptian company, especially since the Egyptian companies that took over projects in the country achieved great successes and proved their worth in transferring their expertise to the country.”
