Employment: Investment projects are obligated to employ 75% of the national workforce

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs attributed the failure to achieve the specified percentage of national employment in investment projects, amounting to 75 percent, to the granting of investment licenses by the National Investment Commission without referring to them. And the media advisor to the Ministry, Kazem Al-Atwani, stated, in an interview with Al-Sabah, that the decision of the General Secretariat Council of Ministers No. 2311 issued a few months ago recognized the need to achieve 75 percent of the national workforce in exchange for its foreign counterpart working in projects, and coordination is underway with the Investment Authority to install this percentage in all investment projects. And he indicated that the Ministry is working, through the Department of Labor and Vocational Training, to implement the Council of Ministers’ decision to achieve 50 percent of national employment in exchange for foreigners in private sector projects, and that it obliges project owners to achieve the above-mentioned percentage by reviewing the foreigners section to promote transactions.
