called for specialists to reconsider the human trafficking law by setting a legislative policy on the issue of penalties or creating a coordination mechanism between the state and local authorities, as well as coordination between regional countries and countries neighboring Iraq to reduce smuggling and human trafficking. The official spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Maj. Gen. Khaled Al-Muhanna, that "human trafficking is a cross-border crime and many countries of the world suffer from it, so there are international efforts to combat it."
Al-Muhanna added, in an interview with "Al-Sabah", that "the ministry formed a supreme committee headed by the Minister of Interior with several formations in the ministry, the purpose of which is to coordinate and develop a strategy to combat human trafficking, as it is one of the wide crimes that include many branching crimes such as exploiting people for begging and prostitution." and trafficking in human organs.
He added, "The problem facing the security forces is that most of the victims do not know that they are victims, and the success of the operation lies in the experiences gained from the officers in the security forces in how to reach these groups," noting that "the officers of the Human Trafficking Directorate have completed many courses, and thanks to the directorate's expertise, the Many gangs have been arrested in the past period, with the crime of trafficking and using victims for the purpose of prostitution, begging and even trafficking in human organs.
Al-Muhanna stated that "the ministry asks the social departments to intensify awareness of the consequences of falling into the traps of gangs that exploit people to trap them," pointing out that "the accumulated experience of the competent directorate enabled it to reach areas where gangs practice beggary or prostitution, and receive reports from various Sources".
For his part, a member of the Human Rights Commission, Fadhel Al-Gharawi, stated that "human trafficking is one of the serious issues that have increased in numbers and ranges in the recent period, and its forms have diversified and become organized through the kidnapping of children and the use of women for prostitution, labor and slavery, as well as trafficking in human organs as well as forced marriages." .
Al-Gharawi added, in an interview with "Al-Sabah", that "the danger of human trafficking is very great for society, and there are large funds that reach these gangs through it," noting that "despite the valuable efforts of the Committee for Combating Human Trafficking and the security authorities; it is still The issue has not been resolved, and there must be a legislative policy for the law on human trafficking and tightening the issue of penalties, or creating a coordination mechanism between the state, local authorities, regional countries and neighboring countries of Iraq, to reduce it, and benefit from the technical expertise provided by the United Nations in dealing with these important files that Its victims are usually women, children and juveniles.
