Parliament refuses to impose a levy on water

Several parliamentary committees rejected the imposition of taxation to collect water service fees, as a proposal to reduce waste in drinking water and in response to the pressures of several successive seasons of drought on the country, calling in return for the adoption of new technologies in irrigation and focus on the culture of rationalization in domestic consumption.
The head of the Parliamentary Agriculture Committee, Faleh Khazali, said in an interview with "Al-Sabah": "Every collection needs a law and a constitutional text, and we also need to legalize waste in agricultural operations," noting that "the current waste is due to classical agriculture, so it was introduced Visions included in the budget are the introduction of some projects for lining rivers and closed irrigation.

added Al-Lami told Al-Sabah that “rationalization of consumption requires awareness to conserve water,” refusing to “impose a levy on water use in this difficult economic time, just like electricity, but that rationalization of consumption must be encouraged.” She explained that “the levying application needs to
