Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Planning announced the completion of 84% of the Baghdad-Kirkuk entrance rehabilitation and maintenance project.
The Ministry stated in a statement, “The project to rehabilitate the (Baghdad-Kirkuk) road with two lanes, which includes rehabilitating and maintaining the section of the (Baghdad-Diyala) road extending from the Bob al-Sham Arch to the Muhammad al-Sakran intersection, with a length of more than (9) kilometers, in addition to exposing... The original road was added by six metres, making it 16 meters wide for each lane, as well as the construction of a service road along the road with a width of 8 metres, in addition to the construction of two overhead bridges, and another underpass, with the construction of two pedestrian bridges, a lighting network for the bridges, a protection fence, and road planning work. She added, "The project provides safe and decent paths in the city of Baghdad and is being implemented in accordance with international standards," indicating that "the completion rate in it has reached more than (84%), and it is hoped to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2024."
She pointed out, "The project will contribute to relieving congestion and traffic congestion and facilitating traffic flow," noting that "one of the obstacles delaying the completion of the project is the failure to complete a study of the replacement order for the middle carrot works, as well as the presence of some violations on the road's path."
