A call for public-private partnership in providing health services

The Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee called for the inclusion of the private health sector as a partner with the public sector in providing health services.
The head of the committee, Majid Shankali, believed that “the health system remaining in its current state will not develop the health sector if we do not make the private sector a partner with the public sector in providing services,” considering that “the current health system will remain at the same pace as the previous systems.”
Shankali added, in an interview with “Al-Sabah,” that “corruption must be eliminated and monotony in the health system to make it more developed. Until this moment, all workers in the public health sector are workers in the private health sector, and this is a disaster,” as he put it.
He pointed out that "the intervention of unions and political parties has exacerbated the problem, and the solution lies in reforming the health system through legislation that regulates work."
