    Today, Thursday (October 19, 2023), Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed that he had responded to the call of the Arab Republic of Egypt to hold an international conference to discuss field developments in the Gaza Strip. 
    In a statement received by Baghdad Today, the media office conveyed the most prominent contents of Al-Sawani’s article under the title “Stopping the war on Gaza is a priority for Iraq,” which was published by Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper published in the British capital, London. 
    In the article, Al-Sudani reiterated “the clear and consistent position on the Palestinian right to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital,” adding, “We seek for the Palestinian people to enjoy their legitimate rights to live in peace within their independent state, enjoying security and sovereignty,” according to his media office. 
    Al-Sudani also stated that he “stressed, in his dialogues and communications, the necessity of stopping the escalation, respecting human rights, and putting pressure on the Zionist entity to stop its aggression against the occupied territories,” noting that “it is important for the international community to take serious and responsible steps to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe that leaves its original impact.” The presence of the Palestinians in their occupied homeland. 
    He explained that Iraq "moved quickly to send humanitarian aid to Gaza in coordination with the Egyptian government," noting that it "looked forward during the summit to a unified political stance by the major countries in order to develop a just solution for the Palestinians." 
    He continued, "We will push for the adoption of a unified mechanism for Arab and Islamic countries to deliver humanitarian, medical, and financial aid to our people in Gaza," adding, "We will also push for demanding that the United States and the international community look seriously at the legitimate demands of the Palestinian people." 
    He continued, "Iraq seeks, through its balanced relations with regional countries and the international community, to put pressure to stop the suffering of the people of Palestine in Gaza and the rest of the Palestinian territories," stressing that "Iraq categorically rejects the transformation of the Palestinian issue from an issue of land and people into an issue of displacement." and humanitarian aid.”
    He pointed out that "the time has come for the Arab and Islamic worlds to take a unified stance towards the Palestinians, to end decades-long suffering."
