    Al-Zawraa/Mustafa Falih:
The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan saw that the position of governor in Kirkuk is an electoral entitlement to it, and while it indicated that it supports rotating positions, but with a condition, it stressed that Kirkuk is experiencing a political complex that still exists and has not been resolved.
A member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in Kirkuk, Soran Dawi, said in an interview with Al-Zawraa: “There is nothing new regarding the formation of the local government of Kirkuk, but everyone agrees on a basic idea, which is that there should be a joint administration between all components of Kirkuk, but how to manage Governorate and how to distribute positions. There is no agreement in this direction, despite the presence of some kind of proposals from some parties,” adding, “Perhaps there are acceptable proposals, but these proposals have not reached the degree of maturity that would lead to agreement.”
He stressed, “We are now in a political impasse, but there is a political knot that must be solved and dismantled, but it still exists.”
He pointed to the emergence of new alignments in the Prime Minister’s meeting with the political blocs in Kirkuk, “We in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan were surprised by them, and before that there was a kind of alliance between the parties, and it seems that they changed, so there was a Turkmen-Arab alignment, of course not all the Arabs, but part of them and part From the Kurds, on the other hand, there was also an Arab-Kurdish and Christian alignment, and perhaps it is a new reality that has emerged, but it did not resolve the issue and may complicate it further.”
Regarding the proposal to rotate positions, he stated that “it is not reasonable that we in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan obtained five seats and we have a Christian quota for our share in rotation to be the same period of time as the one who obtained two seats,” stressing, “We are in favor of rotation, but with justice and according to electoral entitlement.”
He pointed out, “We initially said that if there was an electoral entitlement, we believe that the position of governor is ours, and even if there is consensus, it does not mean that we give up. This consensus means that everyone forms the Kirkuk government, but not at the expense of the one who got more seats, and won.” With the most votes in the governorate.”[/size]
