Director of the Ministry’s Media Office, Maitham Al-Safi, said that the file of violations of taboos and railway lands is one of the most difficult files facing the ministry’s work, as it is renewed every year as a result of citizens’ insistence on transgressing these taboos and building houses and living in them, as well as using some of them as parking lots for vehicles. And throwing waste.

He pointed out that hundreds of violations are removed every month, but after a few days they return again by citizens, in addition to the fact that some railway employees were assaulted when they asked the violators to remove their violations from the railway lands, with stones being thrown at the trains by them.

He pointed out that the Ministry decided to refer the violations file to the judiciary and security forces for the purpose of imposing the law on the violators and closing this file permanently.

Al-Safi warned that campaigns to lift violations will continue until the end of the current year, for the purpose of maintaining the complete path of railway lines, through the relevant committees and security detachments, especially since the railway sector is on the verge of a comprehensive development and rehabilitation movement, which includes the reconstruction of infrastructure and bridges, the development of current stations, and the adoption of a system. Electronic reservation and payment for travel on board trains.

He stated that the Ministry is studying the possibility of including railway projects in investment budgets in order of priority, as they are of a strategic dimension to the development road projects and the Grand Al-Faw Port, and for the purpose of advancing the reality of the railway sector due to the economic and commercial importance it represents over the coming years, according to the official Al-Sabah newspaper.
