Member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Burhan Sheikh Raouf, stressed the necessity of holding elections in Kurdistan as soon as possible, pointing out that the region is experiencing a legal and constitutional conflict.

Sheikh Raouf told Al-Maalouma, “The Election Commission sent a letter to the Kurdistan Regional Government stipulating that a new date for the elections be set on the fifth of next September, indicating that the National Union stands with the idea of holding the elections as soon as possible.”
He added, "The region is experiencing a legal-constitutional struggle and needs to hold new parliamentary elections, to choose representatives of the people in the legislative authority and a new leadership for the region."
He stated that "the region currently lives without a parliament or any legitimate institutions," calling on all parties in the region to "participate in the upcoming Kurdistan parliament elections." Ended 25 n
