The Ministry of Interior, as part of its effort to restrict weapons into the hands of the state, allocated 697 centers to register and receive weapons from citizens via an electronic form, confirming at the same time the closure of 119 stores that sell weapons, including those that are licensed.
Brigadier General Mansour Ali Sultan, secretary and rapporteur of the National Committee for Regulating Weapons and Confining Weapons to the State, told Al-Sabah: His ministry seeks, by activating the work of the aforementioned committee, to regulate the spread of weapons in all governorates of the country and reduce the manifestations of militarization of society in order to preserve societal peace, indicating that it will By creating a database of seized and confiscated government weapons, in addition to missing weapons, it allocated 697 weapons registration offices within police stations spread across all governorates of the country, with the exception of the Kurdistan region.

Sultan stated that the committee’s preparatory measures also included closing 119 stores that sell weapons, both licensed and otherwise, in addition to combating websites that promote the sale of weapons, noting the ministry’s determination to combat manifestations of social armament and its repercussions, including activating the tribal bench law within Article 2 of Law 4 of Terrorism.
