    The Kurdistan Tourism Authority confirmed today, Monday (January 15, 2024), that the region received more than seven million tourists in 2023, noting an increase in tourism revenues by 17%.
    The head of the authority, Amal Jalal, said in a press conference followed by “Baghdad Today” that “the authority planned to receive more than 8 million tourists in the year 2023, after Kurdistan received about 6 million tourists in the year 2022,” indicating that “the number of tourists who visited the region in Last year it reached 7 million.”
    She added, “The Authority has 3,100 tourism activity centers in Kurdistan, distributed across the provinces and cities of the region, which would secure tourists’ needs and push towards increasing the number of tourists heading to the region.”
    Jalal confirmed, “More than 55 tourism projects were implemented in various cities of the region with a capital estimated at $7 billion, which led to an increase in tourism sector revenues by 17% compared to previous years.”
