, on Saturday, the Taqadum Alliance renewed its adherence to its candidate for the presidency of Parliament, Shaalan Al-Karim, indicating that “all the accusations directed against him are an attempt to bring him down, and there is also an attempt to withdraw the position from the Taqadum Party.”
The coalition’s leader, Muhammad Al-Alawi, said in an interview followed by Mawazine News/that his party “is still adhering to Shaalan Al-Karim to head Parliament.”
He added, “All the accusations against him are an attempt to bring him down, and there is also an attempt to withdraw the position from the Taqaddam Party, even though it has a Sunni majority within the House of Representatives,” according to what he said. He noted
that Until “what happened in the last session to elect the President of the Iraqi Parliament was political chaos created to thwart the second round because our candidate received the majority of votes from the representatives, and for this reason we filed a complaint and appealed against the legality of the political chaos that occurred during the session.”
Al-Alawi pointed out that “there was no Intention to change the party's nominee for office.
